Ascendum joins Volvo CE in the 2022 FIA Rallycross World Championship

In a high-speed partnership, Ascendum and Volvo CE are sponsoring one of the most exciting competitions in automobile racing: the 2022 FIA Rallycross World Championship. As one of the world's leading distributors of Volvo CE, Ascendum is joining this unique initiative as the GOLD sponsor of the Portuguese round (September 18-19, Montalegre - Vila Real), also sponsoring the CE Dealer Team created especially for this competition.
- Competition will be fully based on electric mobility.
- Construction Equipment Dealer Team participates with the first electric car
- For the first time, a gender-equal team (one male and one female driver) ensures representation in the international competition.
- The Portuguese Round of the World Championship will be held on Sep 17th-18th, in Montalegre - Vila Real.
This opportunity comes under the partnership that Volvo CE has established with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) for the 2022 FIA World Rallycross Championship. Ascendum and Volvo CE's participation in the event goes far beyond sponsorship: the Construction Equipment Dealer Team (CE Dealer Team), created especially for this competition, will enter the competition with an electric car. Volvo CE is the official construction equipment supplier of the Championship.
Toward an electric future
The competition format, totally based on electric mobility, as well as the participation of the Construction Equipment Dealer Team (CE Dealer Team) with the first electric car, enable FIA 2022 World Rallycross Championship to be the right platform to promote a change toward a more sustainable, electric and 100% fossil fuel free future.
Ascendum's involvement in this international race, in partnership with Volvo CE, aims precisely to raise the awareness of all customers and partners to the need for greater sustainability and the importance of electric mobility in the machinery and equipment sector - a sector in which energy transition, towards carbon neutrality, is very important. With a history of high-performance off-road solutions, Volvo CE will also use the event to showcase the growing range of electric construction equipment and innovative services available on the market.
This participation in the 2022 FIA World Rallycross Championship is an important achievement for the entire Ascendum Group, as it associates with one of the most prestigious events in global motor racing and becomes a partner, with Volvo CE, for accelerating the sustainable transformation of the sector and the world.

Competing for equality
For the first time, a gender-equal team of drivers - one male and one female - will participate in the international competition, representing the Construction Equipment Dealer Team (CE Dealer Team). This is a historic milestone in support of gender equality, and of which Ascendum is proud to be a part. The drivers will be Klara Andersson and Niclas Grönholm, led by the experienced Team Manager Jussi Pinomäki.
